What Would I Change About the Education System

Our education system needs a change for many reasons. What we learn is cookie cutter. We all learn the same things and our mind in just stuck in that mentality. We are on a schedule everyday and learn the same way everyday. We learned to memorize and not take the time to actually take the information in.

The idea of having an innovations classes is very good. A class like this make kids think out of the box and think about things we don’t normally take the time to think about. Kids these days have lost their creativity and need help to bring it back. To make schools a better environment for learning, I would personally have school start later and like colleges do, have certain classes on certain days to decrease the time we are at school.

We need a study hall in our school. We go to school for 7 hours and the right after that I go to work for almost 5 hours. Then I am up super late doing at least an hour or two of homework and then have to get a shower too. We need classes that will actually help us in the future. Like how to get ready for college or how to manage a check book. We don’t know how to buy our first car or our first apartment or house. We don’t know how to look for our first real job after college. There are so many kids that are seniors now and still don’t know what they want to do. I am a senior now and I know what I want to do because I realized that I want to live my life helping people. I had the experience of 5 close deaths in the last few years. All I wanted to do was be able to help them but I couldn’t, so that is what I want to do now. Many kids don’t have an experience like that so we need a class that helps us figure out what we want to do and gives us different experiences in many different things.
